The Innovative Designer

What is an Innovative Designer?

Students use a variety of technologies within a design process to identify and solve problems by creating new, useful or imaginative solutions.

Students know and use a deliberate design process for generating ideas, testing theories, creating innovative artifacts or solving authentic problems.

Students select and use digital tools to plan and manage a design process that considers design constraints and calculated risks.

Students develop, test and refine prototypes as part of a cyclical design process.

Students exhibit a tolerance for ambiguity, perseverance and the capacity to work with open-ended problems.

How will you fulfill the Innovative Designer Standard?

Among other things you will use code.org, scratch.mit.edu, and TinkerCAD to develop, test, and refine prototypes of programs, games, animations, and digital objects (with the chance of 3D printing them, pending on the 3D printer status and time).

Code.org

Learn how to program computers through fun games, songs, etc...

Check out this playlist for my suggestions on learning code.org

Scratch.mit.edu

Program interactive stories, games, and animations!

After learning to basics on code.org now you can apply your skills on scratch! Scratch helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively — essential skills for life in the 21st century.

TinkerCAD

Create 3D digital designs with online Computer Aided Design (CAD).

Tinkercad is a free online collection of software tools that help people all over the world think, create and make. They are the ideal introduction to Autodesk, the leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software.
